چکیده

The statistical production of antibaryons is considered within the canonical ensemble formulation. We demonstrate that the antibaryon suppression in small systems due to the exact baryon number conservation is rather different in the baryon–free (B = 0) and baryon–rich (B ≥ 2) systems. At constant values of temperature and baryon density in the baryon–rich systems the density of the produced antibaryons is only weakly dependent on the size of the system. For realistic hadronization conditions this dependence appears to be close to B/(B +1) which is in agreement with the preliminary data of the NA49 Collaboration for the p̄/π ratio in nucleus– nucleus collisions at the CERN SPS energies. However, a consistent picture of antibaryon production within the statistical hadronization model has not yet been achieved. This is because the condition of constant hadronization temperature in the baryon–free systems leads to a contradiction with the data on the p̄/π ratio in e++e− interactions. Baryon-antibaryon production by disordered chiral condensates.

We investigate the production of baryons and antibaryons in the central rapidity region of high energy nuclear collisions within the framework of the Skyrme model taking into account the effects of explicit chiral symmetry breaking. We argue that the formation of disordered chiral condensates may lead to enhanced baryonantibaryon production at low transverse momentum.

Observing Quark-gluon Plasma with Strange Hadrons

We review the methods and results obtained in an analysis of the experimental heavy ion collision research program at nuclear beam energy of 160–200A GeV. We study strange, and more generally, hadronic particle production experimental data. We discuss present expectations concerning how these observables will perform at other collision energies. We also present the dynamical theory of strangene...

On the exact conservation laws in thermal models and the analysis of AGS and SIS experimental results

The production of hadrons in relativistic heavy ion collisions is studied using a statistical ensemble with thermal and chemical equilibrium. Special attention is given to exact conservation laws, i.e. certain charges are treated canonically instead of using the usual grand canonical approach. For small systems, the exact conservation of baryon number, strangeness and electric charge is to be t...

Electroweak strings produce baryons.

We propose a new mechanism to generate baryons. Electroweak strings produced at the electroweak phase transition will introduce anomalous currents through interactions of the strings with the background electromagnetic field and through changes in the helicity of the string network. These anomalous currents will produce fluctuations in the baryon and lepton number. We show that in the two-Higgs...

Exact Conservation of Quantum Numbers in the Statistical Description of High Energy Particle Reactions

In high energy particle collisions, the interaction volume is often very small and large deviations can occur from the thermodynamic limit depending on the beam energy. In some cases it may be easy to produce a pion since one needs only 140 MeV for its rest mass, however, to produce an anti-proton one needs at least twice the rest mass, 1.88 GeV and not simply 0.94 GeV, since they can only be p...
